Employment and Training
Employment and Training Unit assist and assess customers with training related requests.
Training is available for individuals who need additional skills in their field to become employed or to return to work.
Training may be considered only when an applicant has met entry requirements for their field of study and can provide a letter of acceptance from the school on the eligible provider list. The course of study must be in demand occupation and on the list of approved programs of study on the Eligible Provider List (EPL).
A Career Consultant may suggest intensive services, such as resume writing classes, interviewing classes, other classes for job search techniques, financial literacy, basic skills remediation or other, as necessary to determine if training is needed in order for an individual to find suitable employment in their field.
Procedure for applying for WIA funded training / ITA Process
Procedure broken down into numbered steps (1, 2, and 3)
- WIA Orientation is at 7:45am to 8:45am every Mon, Wed and Fri (excluding County observed holidays)
- TABE Testing is conducted immediately following Orientation on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:00am. It is mandatory that a customer attend orientation before attending a ITA Session.
- After mandatory attendance of WIA Orientation, customers should call 404-687-3400 to sign up for ITA Intake Session. WIA Intake Sessions are held Tuesday and Thursdays at 10:00am. (excluding County observed holidays). ITA Intake sessions will not exceed 40 customers due to room capacity.

If you have questions about the WIA process or how to fill out the ITA application, we encourage you to attend the WIA Orientation and WIA Intake Session. All questions and concerns will be addressed at that time. Please arrive on time due to limited parking space. We encourage using MARTA (Decatur and Avondale MARTA stations are in close proximity).
